Maria (Farias) Pereira, 73, of Fall River, wife of Manuel Pereira, died on April 26, 2009 after a long illness. Born in St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Antonio & Matilde (Batista) Farias, she emigrated to Fall River in 1969. She was employed in the local garment industry for many years, retiring in 1998. Besides her husband of 57 years, survivors include: children, Tony Pereira of Cape Cod, John Pereira of Somerset, Manuel Pereira of Brazil, Daniel Pereira of N.Y. NY, Joe, Silvino, Lucy & Fernanda Pereira, Maria Sousa and Fatima daCamara all of Fall River, Natalie Pratt of Tiverton RI; a sister, Leonilde Andrade of St Michael, Azores; 20 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was also mother of the late Maria Estrela Pereira; and sister of the late Manuel, Alfred, Antonio, Joao & Jose Farias. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in Sacred Heart Church. Pallbearers Tony, John, Silvin, Joey, Danny and Jerry Pereira brought Maria to her final resting place at St. Patrick Cemetery.
