Maria F. Sousa, 76, of Fall River, wife of the late Carlos M. Sousa, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 24, 2023 in the comforts of her home following a long illness. Born in Nordeste, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Serafin Franco Medeiros and the late Georgina (Raposo) Medeiros.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamstress in the local textile industry for many years. She loved sewing, cooking, baking, and gardening. A very social woman, she also enjoyed her trips to the casino, several cruises, and traveling to such places as Mexico, Canada, Florida, and back to her homeland in Portugal. A devout Catholic, she attended mass faithfully, was a member of the Holy Rosary Society of St. Anthony of Padua Parish and sang in the church choir. But most notably, Maria was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt who considered family to be of the utmost importance.

She leaves her loving and devoted daughter, Nicole Sousa and her husband, Kenny Andrade, of Fall River; her sister, Maria DoCeu Barbosa and her husband, Carlos, of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her precious cat, Lulu.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, May 1st, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed byher committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
