Maria C. Farias, 102, of Fall River, widow of Frank M. Farias and former widow of Jose dos Santos Medeiros Dias, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Center.  Born in Ginetes, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Francisco Jacinto Ferreira and the late Maria Luisa (Ferreira) Ferreira, she emigrated to the Fall River area in 1965.  Having resided in Fall River most of her life, she had also lived for a time in Swansea and in Tiverton.

Employed in the textile industry for many years with various local companies, Maria retired from J. M. Sportswear in the late 1980s – and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union ("ILGWU" now called UNITE).  She loved crocheting and was an avid baker.  Maria also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and doing yardwork.

She is survived by: a daughter, Dolores Fernandes (late husband Eduardo) of Fall River; a son, Herbert Dias (wife Donna Travers) of Swansea; a sister, Maria Gilda Ferreira Carreiro of St. Michael, Azores; two grandchildren, Christopher Lee and Alanna; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Maria was predeceased by her grandson, Bryant Dias.

Following a private cremation, a memorial visitation period was held in our Fall River Chapel on Sunday, January 11th. On Monday the 12th, Her Memorial Funeral Mass will celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church.
