Maria Fatima Soares, 60, of Fall River, widow of Abel Leite, died Friday at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, daughter of Maria de Rosario of Sao Vincente, St. Michael, Azores and the late Manuel Farias, she emigrated to Fall River in 1998. She had worked as a housekeeper for 14 years at Casa do Povo das Capelas of St. Michael, and always enjoyed participating in religious activities. Besides her mother, she is survived by: children, Pedro Medeiros of Capelas, St. Michael, Nelia Cardoso, Vitor & Paul Medeiros all of Fall River; siblings, Connie Correia of Fall River, Natalia da Costa of Warren, RI, Ines Travassos & Fernanda Farias both of Brampton, Canada, Belmira Avelar of Flores, Azores and Joao Farias of Capelas, St. Michael; grandchildren, Adam & Rebecca Cardoso, Daniela & Mathayus Medeiros and Julianna Oliveira; many nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Manuel Farias. Her Funeral Mass was offered on Thursday, May 28, in Santo Christo Church. Committal services followed at St. Patrick Cemetery.
