Obituary

Maria "Vidalia" Ferreira, 77, of Fall River, wife of Luis O. Ferreira, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Ajuda da Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Joao Cordeiro Miranda and the late Maria Conceicao (Viveiros) Miranda.

Prior to her retirement she worked as a sampler in the local textile industry for many years. She loved sewing, baking, and cooking for her family. A devout Catholic, she attended Mass faithfully and prayed the rosary daily. She was a long-time parishioner of Espirito Santo Church, member of Irmas do Rosario, and, in her younger days, volunteered for many church functions. But most notably, Maria enjoyed spending quality time with all of her family and was always eager and willing to help anyone in need.

Besides her husband of fifty-five years, she leaves her loving children, Donna Kerrigan and her husband, William, and Luis A. Ferreira and his wife, Amy, both of Fall River; her grandchildren, Cassandra Kerrigan-Burdick (late husband, William), William James Kerrigan, Charlotte Modesta Ferreira, and Hadley Vidalia Ferreira; three sisters, Maria Helena Simoes (late husband, Antonio), Natalia Alexandre (Luis), and Maria Fatima Raposo (late husband, Jose); one brother, Eduardo Miranda (late wife, Teresa); and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Gilda M. Reis.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 19th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Maria's memory to: St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959
