Maria G. DaSilva, 91, of Fall River, wife of the late Jose C. DaSilva, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Kimwell Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Ribeira Seca Ribeira Grande, St. Michael, Azores, the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Estrela) Anselmo. She worked as a presser in the local textile industry prior to her retirement many years ago. Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family very much. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, and attending weekly prayer meetings at various churches. She leaves: her three children, Maria F. DaSilva, Henrique DaSilva and his wife Edviges, and Joseph Silva and his wife Otilia, all of Fall River; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Luis Vieira and his wife Beatrice of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Manuel Vieira. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, December 20th, in St. Mary's Cathedral Parish's Holy Cross Chapel on Pulaski Street, followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
