Maria I.
Oliveira
d. Feb 24, 2022
Maria Isaura Oliveira, a beloved mother and longtime resident of Fall River, passed on February 24th, 2022. She was one of the most unselfish of persons one could ever know.
Born in the small town of Capelas on the island of St. Michael to loving parents Manuel and Isaura (Lucas) Miranda, Maria was a devout Roman Catholic. Despite hardships throughout her early life, including the death of her beloved mother and first child Otilia Ana, Maria continued to return to and benefit from the power of prayer. God rewarded her devotion with a blessed family of 8 more children.
In 1966, Maria and her only love, Jacinto de Oliveira, emigrated to the United States; leaving their homeland and a country they loved for the benefit of their children. Maria embraced a life in the U.S. for the sake of her family, overcoming language and culture barriers with the grace of God to provide her children with a better life.
God gave her the strength to not only persevere through a life of hardship, but to live that life graciously in such a way to see her own children become successful. Maria fought the good fight and has now finished her struggle to be united with her Savior, her passed child, and her husband.
She will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren. They will love her forever. Maria leaves behind children, Bernadette, Jesse, Alfonso, Ana, Gaurette, Marie, Elizabeth, and Rose; as well as grandchildren, Bradford, Bruce, Emilio, Erica, Jared, Ashley, Andrew, Joshua, Taylor, Vanessa, Jordan, Cassidy, Matthew, Madison, Noah and Nathan.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, March 3rd, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal and entombment in the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation for masses to be held in Maria's memory. She would appreciate prayers and to worship Jesus as she did.
