Maria J. Tavares, 80, of Fall River, widow of Antonio V. Tavares, died Wednesday 8/22/12 at Kimwell Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Furnas, St Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Luis & Maria (Goncalves) Machado, she emigrated to Fall River in 1976. She worked in the local textile industry for many years. She leaves: 2 children, Maria Vieira, & Manuel Carreiro (wife Rosa) all of Fall River; 1 granddaughter; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, August 25, in Holy Name Church followed by her committal at St Patrick Cemetery.
