Maria Jesus (Raulino) Raposo age 86 of Somerset passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on September 12th, 2026. She was the wife of the late Nicolau Raposo. Born in Rabo de Peixe , Sao Miguel Azores. She was the daughter of the late Joao and Maria (Silva) Raulino.
Maria (Mary) worked for the Providence Veterans Administration Medical Center as a nurse before retiring after 35 years of dedicated service. She treasured time with her family and many friends, both here and in the Azores. Mary loved to travel and especially enjoyed spending her summers at her home in Capelas, São Miguel, which held a very special place in her heart.
Monday night knitting nights were a highlight of her week, as knitting was one of her favorite pastimes. She also loved going out to eat, dancing, and simply enjoying life.
Mary had a vibrant personality and an unforgettable sense of humor. A true spitfire. She was always laughing, dancing, and making everyone around her laugh. She was the life of the party and had an incredible ability to make friends wherever she went. Mary gave her love freely to everyone she met and was lovingly known by many as “The Queen.” Her warmth, laughter, and larger than life presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by three daughters: Rose M Lopes ( Duarte) of Somerset. Kathleen L. Camara of Somerset, and Judith A. Caouette ( Robert ) of Seekonk, as well as two stepchildren Natalie ( David ) Sowersby, and Richard Raposo. 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She was survived by two sisters Kathleen Bartram ( late husband Larry ) and Anna Raulino, along with one brother Leonard Raulino. She was also the sister to the late Caroline Silva and Joseph Raulino.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Visitation to be held in Silva-Faria SOMERSET Funeral Home, 84 County Street, Somerset, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. from Silva-Faria SOMERSET Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered in St. John of God Church, at 10:00 am. Committal Service and interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
