Maria H. Khoury, 90, of Swansea, formerly of Fall River, wife of the late George Khoury, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2022 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born in Santa Maria, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Joao Puim and the late Maria (Freitas) Carreiro.

Prior to her retirement, she was a presser in the local garment industry for many years. She loved knitting, cooking, and baking, especially her biscoitos. She also enjoyed traveling to such places as Florida, Jamaica, and back to her homeland in Portugal. But most notably, Maria was a devout Catholic and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who cherished the time she spent with all of her family.

She leaves her devoted daughter, Esmeralda C. Sobreiro and her husband, Joaquim, of Swansea; her grandson, Paul B. Sobreiro; her three great-grandchildren, Page Sobreiro. Grace Sobreiro, and Joaquim "Jack" Sobreiro; one great-great-grandson, Oliver Semiao; her sister, Ana Garcia (late long-time companion, Antonio Vultao); and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Luisa Reis and the late John Carreiro.
