Maria L.
Cabral
d. Nov 10, 2021
Maria L. Cabral, age 96, of Fall River, wife of the late Joseph Tomaz Cabral, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Born in Agua Retorta, Sao Miguel, Acores, she was a daughter of the late Jose Leandro Resendes and the late Maria do Carmo (Amaro) Resendes.
Before retiring, Maria worked at Louis Hand as a sewing machine operator for over 30 years. She loved cooking for family lunch on Sundays and traveling to such places as Florida, Portugal, Washington DC, Virginia, Canada, and New Hampshire. Maria was a devout Catholic and faithfully prayed the rosary daily. But above all else she enjoyed spending time with her three grandchildren.
She leaves: her loving and devoted children, Joseph T. Cabral and his wife, Mary, and Helena C. Ferreira and her husband, Jose, both of Fall River; her three grandchildren, Christopher J. Ferreira and his fiancé, Laurie, Lisa M. Gormley and her husband, Mike, and Melissa M. Cabral; three sisters, Madalena Pacheco (late husband, Angelo), Hermenia Resendes, and CarmeliaMachado (late husband, Ernesto), all of Toronto, Canada; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Deolinda Silva and Maria do Carmo Vasconcelos.
The Cabral family would like to thank her caregivers, Anesy Alexandre and Maria Viveiros for the compassionate and exceptional care they provided for their beloved mother for the past 14 years.
Her private funeral was held from our Fall River Chapel on Wednesday, November 17th, with a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Maria's memory to: Alzheimer's Association, 255 N. Michigan Ave., FL 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
