Maria L. Mota, 81, of Fall River, wife of Germano C. Mota, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Charlton Memorial Hospital on Friday, May 17, 2019 after a long illness. Born in Faja Cima, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Evangelina (Andrade) Raposo. She was a selfless woman who loved to make sure her family was cared for. She loved cooking, baking, and sewing. Maria also very much enjoyed spending quality time with family, especially her great-grandchildren, and dining out with her loving daughter. Besides her husband of sixty-three years, she leaves: her daughter and best friend, Natalie Sousa (late husband, Joseph Richard) of Westport; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Sousa, Phillip Sousa, Stephanie MacArthur (husband, Steven), Lisa Mota, and Brittany Cabral; five great-grandchildren, Makayla Pereira, Zachary Pereira, Logan Pereira, Jacob MacArthur, and Lucas MacArthur; one great-great-grandson, Matteo Dayson; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Antonio R. Mota and sister of the late Joaquim Raposo. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, May 22nd, in Espírito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
