Maria L. Sousa, 77, of Fall River, wife of Arnaldo M. Sousa, passed away at home on Thursday, November 26. 2020. Born in Mosteiros, St Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Francisco Dias Raposo and the late Diamantina (Pavao) Raposo, she emigrated to Fall River in the late 1960s.

She was employed in the local textile industry for many years working at various companies, retiring from the former Wakefield in the late 1990s. She enjoyed housekeeping and gardening.

Besides her husband, of 48 years, she is survived by: two sisters, Maria DeCeu Silva and Natalia Melo both of Fall River; a grandson, Dawson Sousa, of Fall River; and several nephews/nieces/godchildren, including her caregiver, Diamantina "Tina" Fernandes. She was also the mother of the late Gary Sousa; and a sister of the late Manuel Raposo and Helder Raposo.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, December 2nd, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her private committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
