Maria Nascimento Lopes, 89, of Fall River, wife of the late Duarte C. Lopes, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2020 at St. Anne's Hospital surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren after a brief illness.

Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Oliveira and the late Ermelinda (Oliveira) Oliveira.

Maria was a terrific homemaker who loved gardening, sewing, and, most importantly, spending quality time with her devoted family.

She leaves:  her children, Daciel O. Lopes and his wife, Luisa, Mariette Pacheco and her husband, Paul, and Odette Dias and her husband, Albert "Brother", all of Swansea, Duarte M. Lopes and his wife, Rose, Maria "Helena" Eleuterio (late husband, Dorvalino), and Fernando "Flo" Lopes and his wife, Maria, all of Somerset, Carlos O. Lopes and his wife, Karen, of Warwick, Rhode Island, and Antonio "Louie" Lopes of Fall River; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marieta Cabral (late husband, Manuel) and Olga Melo (late husband, Vasco), both of the Azores; one brother, Fernando Oliveira and his wife, Lucia, of Assonet; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Carlos Oliveira.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, March 13th, in St. Mary's Cathedral followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
