Maria Luisa (Sousa) Cabral, 88, of Fall River, wife of the late Manuel Sousa Cabral, passed away peacefully on Friday at the Catholic Memorial Home. Born in Furnas, St.Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Tomaz and Adelina (daLuz) Sousa. Maria was a homemaker who loved crocheting, cooking, baking, and attending daily masses. She was a very active happy woman who would often be heard singing throughout her day. Her greatest joy in life was her family whom she loved dearly. She leaves behind her children, Jose Cabral and his wife Ana of Fall River, Maria Conceicao Ferreira and her husband Jose of New Bedford, and Luisa Machado and her husband Jose of Fall River; seven grandchildren, Darleen C. Silva, Melanie Chitas, Ana Christina Sa, Michelle Laverdiere, Brian Ferreira, Lorena Cordeiro, and Kelly Pavao; nine great-grandchildren, Warren Silva, Savanna Silva, Tiago Chitas, Gisele Chitas, Angela Sa, Lucas Sa, Alana Laverdiere, Julia Laverdiere, and Audrina Pavao; a sister, Maria doCarmo Sousa (late-husband Manuel Carreiro Lima) of Azores; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Manuel Santos Sousa (wife Francelina Palhinha Sousa). Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, May 9th, in Santo Christo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
