Maria Lurdes Correia, 81, widow of Jose Sousa Correia, passed away on Sunday February 9, 2025, at home surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Rabo de Peixe, Sao Miguel Açores, a daughter of the late Jose Ferreira Tavares and the late Teresa (Vieira) Tavares, she emigrated to Fall River in 1987.

As passionate as she was about gardening and caring for her flowers and fruit trees, Maria most loved spending time with and caring for her children and, especially, her grandchildren.

She is survived by: seven children, Ana Pereira and husband Carlos, Patricia Cabecinha and husband Tony, Joseph Correia and wife Elizabeth, Ricardo Correia and wife Patricia all of Fall River, Marylou Monteiro and husband Steven of Hudson, MA, Teresa Oliveira and husband Luis of Somerset, Judith Albergaria and husband Claudio of Florida; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one step great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. Maria also leaves one sister and four brothers, with one brother having predeceased her.

Peace and love be with Maria always.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, February 12th, in Good Shepherd Parish Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
