Maria "Lurdes Silvana" Sousa, 85, of Fall River, passed away Monday following an illness. Widow of Manuel De Sousa. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Manuel Henrique and Silvana Carreiro. Beloved mother of Manuel Sousa (wife-Nascimento), Maria Aguiar (husband-Manuel), Lazaro Sousa (wife-Adelaide), Nancy Sardinha (husband-Angelo), Jose Sousa (wife-Dealina), Alda Furtado (husband-Roy), Natercia Cabral (husband-Carlos), Maria de Jesus Cabral (husband-Joe) and the late Pedro Sousa; grandmother of (from the Azores) Patricia, Luis Manuel, Celia, Nuno, Helena and Rui; (from Canada) Danny, Diana, Stephany, Lisa and Sara; and (from the States) Daniel, Lelia, Rosa, John, Edgar, Joey C., Joey S., Jason, Mandy, Ryan, Ashley, Cory, Kyle and Allison; great grandmother of (from the States) Allissa, Benjamin, Maegan, Olivia, Chloe, Nicholas, James, Nina, Ava, Elijah, Claire and Aaliyah; (from the Azores) Lucas, Julia, Simao, Sofia and Bruno; and (from Canada) Miles, Desi, Lily and Jackson; sister of Ernesto Carreiro Da Silva of the Azores and the late Manuel Enrique Carreiro, Jose Carreiro Da Silva, Maria Papoula and Gloria Carreiro Da Silva. She also leaves many nieces & nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, September 5th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Oak Grove Cemetery.
