Maria M. Silva's Obituary
Maria M. Silva, 87, of Somerset, formerly of Fall River, widow of Jose S. Silva, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017, at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Manuel & Maria G. (Ferreira) de Melo, she emigrated to Fall River in 1973, and worked from 1975 to 1992 at Parkers Candy formerly of Fall River.
She leaves: 8 children, Antonio Silva, Eduarda Soares, Maria Deus Furtado, Gloria Sousa & Connie Jesus all of Fall River, Filomena Silva of Tiverton, Manuel Silva of Swansea, and Fernando M. Silva of Somerset; 2 siblings, Antonio Melo of Canada, Gloria Ferreira of Somerset; 36 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. She was also mother of the late Maria Jose Silva & Maria dos Anjos Silva; and sister of the late Jose & Manuel de Melo and Maria Jose Ferreira.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, January 12th, in St. John of God Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
