Maria Marcelino, 103, of Fall River, wife of the late Joao C. Marcelino, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel R. and Rosa (Matias) Carreiro. She was an exceptional homemaker who loved cooking, baking, and cleaning. She also very much enjoyed all of the activities at the nursing home, where she resided, especially listening and dancing to music. At a very young age, Maria worked very hard and learned to take on many crucial responsibilities. A devout Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Society of St. Anthony of Padua Parish and was steadfast in praying the rosary daily. Maria's demeanor of patience and wisdom, in addition to her loving smile will sorely be missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves: her children, Armand Marcelino and his wife, Julie Ann, of Westport, John Marcelino and his wife, Adriana, and Carlos Marcelino and his wife, Ligia, of Fall River; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Rosemary, Cidalia, and Mario Marcelino, grandmother of the late Christopher Marcelino, and sister of the late Martina Carreiro, Fernanda Sobreiro, Gabriel R. Carreiro, Manuel Carreiro, Viriato Carreiro and Jose Carreiro. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 3rd, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
