Maria M. Mello, better known as Margaret, 78, of Somerset, wife of Joseph S. Mello, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at St. Anne's Hospital after an illness. Born in St. Michael, Azores, the daughter of the late Manuel Correia and the late Elvira (Pavao) Correia, she emigrated to Fall River in 1960 and resided in Somerset for the past 22 years.

Employed in the local garment industry, she was the proprietor of Fashions formerly of Quequechan Street. Margaret also taught sewing for many years. An active parishioner of Santo Christo Church, she enjoyed teaching catechism and volunteering with the annual Catholic Charities appeal.

Besides her husband, of 57 years, she is survived by: two children, Deborah Sousa (husband Douglas) of Somerset and Scott C. Mello of Fall River; four grandchildren, Lauren Houston, Marisol Sousa, Amora Mello, and Christopher Mello; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Patrick Joseph Mello; and sister of the late Manuel Antonio Correia.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, April 24th, in Santo Christo Church followed by her private committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
