Maria Medeiros, 73, of Fall River, wife of the late Antonio Medeiros, passed away peacefully on Sunday after a long illness. Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Alfredo and Maria Ascencao (Ferreira) Pereira. Maria was a machine operator in the local textile industry for many years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed baking sweetbread, but her true passion was cooking, making large meals for her family brought her much joy. An avid Benfica and Boston Bruins fan, she also enjoyed watching the games with her late husband Antonio. Spending time with her family was most important to her. Maria leaves her two sons: Victor Medeiros of Fall River and Antonio Medeiros and his wife Heather of Somerset; her three grandsons: Corey, Derik, and Nathan Medeiros; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Medeiros; a sister Maria Fatima Soares (late-husband Miguel) of Somerville; sister-in-law Lucia Pereira (late-husband Jose); and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Jose Pereira. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, August 25th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Oak Grove Cemetery.
