Maria B. Melim, 86, formerly of Merchant St., passed away Saturday. Widow Jose D'Oliveira to whom she was married for 63 years. Born in Porto Santo, Madeira, daughter of the late Pedro M. Melim and Maria Jose Vasconcelos. A long time resident of St. Michael, Azores, they came to Fall River in 1990. Beloved mother of Paula Desmarais (husband-William), Fernanda Rodrigues (husband-Louis), both of Fall River, Gorett Benevides (husband-Adriano) of Lisbon, Maria Jose Drumond (husband-Pedro) of Porto Santo and Ana Cordeiro (husband-Antonio) of St. Michael, Azores; grandmother of Nelson and Tony Rodrigues, Sonia Benevides, Joana and Joao Drumond, Bruno, Luis and Jose Cordeiro; step grandmother of Jennifer, Joanne and Edmond Desmarais; sister of the late Feliz, Antonio, Jose and Manuel Melim. She also leaves many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 20th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Oak Grove Cemetery.
