Maria Leonor (Carvalho) Moniz, "Lee," 61, of Fall River, wife of Luis Moniz, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, April 9, 2021 after an illness. Born in St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of Ilda (Raposa) Carvalho of Fall River and the late Antonio P. Carvalho, she emigrated to Fall River in 1974.
A housekeeper with Lafrance Hospitality for many years, she was also a PCA with Tempest. Lee enjoyed gardening and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Besides her husband, of 41 years, and her mother, she is survived by: three children, Cliff Moniz (wife Cynthia) of Swansea, Kimberly Dugas (husband Ryan) of Connecticut, and Lellean Moniz (partner Elliot Iskolsky) of New York; ten siblings, Jose Antonio Carvalho of Fall River, Leonardo Carvalho of Fall River, Gilberto Carvalho of Fall River, Ricardo A. Carvalho of Tiverton, RI, Lucilia Pereira of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Filomana Oliveira of Ontario, Canada, Eva Serpa of Fall River, Paulina Medeiros of fall River, Deolinda Silveira of East Providence, RI, and Theresa Sousa of Dartmouth; five grandchildren, Kaylee, Paisley, Rose, Stella, and Daisy; and many nieces and nephews.
Her private funeral was held on Wednesday, April 14th, from our Fall River Chapel with Her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Cathedral followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
