Maria N. Melo, 79, of Fall River, widow of Jeremias J. Melo, died at home Thursday 9/1/11 after a long illness. Born in Santa Cruz Lagoa, St Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Jose & Maria Jeronima (Melo) de Melo, she emigrated to Fall River in 1972. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Mother of Joao C. Melo (wife Delia) of Fall River, Maria D. Frates (husband David) of CA, and the late Antonio & Jose Melo. Sister of Carlos de Melo of Mississauga, Canada, Leonardo de Melo of Somerville, and Margarida Alcadinha, Maria dos Anjos da Silva & Jose de Melo all of Vancouver, Canada. She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Steve, Brandon & Ashley, and several nieces & nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, September 7, in Holy Name Church followed by her committal at St Patrick Cemetery.
