Maria Olivia
Correia
d. Nov 18, 2022
Maria Olivia (Linhares) Correia, 87, of Fall River, wife of the late Armindo C. Correia, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Born in Sao Pedro, de Nordestinho, Sao Miguel, Acores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Furtado Linhares and the late Maria Leopoldina (Carreiro) Linhares.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a floor lady at Klear Vu for many years. She was an avid Benfica fan, she loved listening to and adored Jorge Ferreira. She also loved cooking, tending to her fig trees and her roses, traveling to the Azores, and watching Caso Cerrado every night. A devout Catholic, she was a long-time parishioner of Espirito Santo Church and was a member of a prayer group that aided nursing home residents in praying the rosary, singing, and engaging with them in fun and enjoyable activities. To know her was to love her, she touched the hearts of people all around the world with her loving and embracing personality. She was the Vavó that everyone would love to have in their family with her sass and spunk as many witnessed in her TikTok videos. What was most important to Maria was spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves behind her loving children, Maria Desa and her husband, Mario, of North Dartmouth, Jose Rego and his wife, Zelia, of Westport, Armindo Rego and his wife, Angie, of Fall River, Ana Hilario and her husband, Frank, of Westport, and Maria Soares and her husband, Ronald, of Berkley; a daughter-in-law, Maria Rego (late husband, Luis); eleven grandchildren, Tanya, Kevin, Bryan, Amanda, Nancy, Brittany, Shawn, Kristen, Megan, Jenna and Shana; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Maria do Rosario Espinhosa (late husband, Espinhosa) of the Acores; one brother, Daniel Linhares and his wife, Connie, of Fall River; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was also the mother of the late Luis Rego, great-grandmother of the late Maddox Almeida, and sister of the late Luis Linhares.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, November 23rd, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Maria's memory to: Catholic Memorial Home, Attn: Mary Jean Storino, Head of Activities, 2446 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720.
