Maria Jose Paiva, 80, of Tiverton, widow of Jose Vieira Paiva, died on September 14, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Manor, Bristol, after a long illness. Born in Terceira, Azores, daughter of the late Joao & Rita (Ferreira) Martins, she emigrated to Fall River in 1967 and resided in Tiverton for the last 30 years. Employed in the local textile industry for many years, she retired from Anderson-Little in the early 1990s. Mother of Jose M. Paiva of Berkley, John C. Paiva, Marilou Gouveia & Anne Gendreau all of Tiverton. Sister of Rev. Joao C. Martins, Miquelina Fagundes & Rita Coelho all of Fall River. She also leaves 4 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Her funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Pallbearers were Patrick Gendreau, Joseph Paiva, Kyle Gouveia and Nicholas Robinson. Entombment was held at Notre Dame Mausoleum.
