Maria J. Paredes, 84, wife of the late Jose DoSantos Paredes, passed away unexpectedly at Charlton Memorial Hospital on Monday. Born in Monforte da Beira Baixa, Castelo Branco, Portugal, a daughter of the late Joaquim and Anunciacao (DosAnjos) DoCarmo. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a sewing machine operator in the local textile industry for many years. She loved animals, cooking, baking, shopping, and rides to the water. Maria also had a "sweet-tooth" for cookies and chocolate, especially M&Ms. A devout Catholic, she literally prayed everyday for her loving family and everyone she knew. She leaves her children: Maria El-Hajjar and her husband Mohamad of Tiverton, and Carlos M. Paredes and his wife Christine of Fall River; her cherished grandchildren: Nader El-Hajjar, Cherazod Paredes, and Calysse Paredes; a brother, Antonio DoCarmo of Portugal; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Maria Mendes DoCarmo, Carminda DosAnjos Cavalheiro, and Leonel Andre. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, October 13th, in Espírito Santo Church followed by her committal at Norte Dame Cemetery.
