Maria I. (Novo) Pimentel, 82, of Fall River, widow of Joao R. Pimentel, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. Born in St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Jose Novo and the late Maria (Pacheco) Novo, she emigrated to Fall River in 1989.    She worked in the local garment industry, first at the former Whaling Mfg. then at the former Rothschild for many years.

Maria is survived by: six children, Maria Arruda (husband Joao), Joao D. Pimentel (wife Fatima), Guilherme Pimentel (wife Nelia), Alberto Pimentel (wife Vera), Eugenia Costa (husband Samuel), and Antonio Pimentel (wife Amanda) all of Fall River; four siblings, Joao Novo and Conceicao Oliveira both of Ontario, Canada, Gilda Miranda and Angelina Oliveira both of St. Michael, Azores; ten grandchildren, Adriana, Nelson, Kevin, Scottie, Savannah, Karen, Allie, Evan, Kalin, and Colton; three great grandchildren, Liam, Logan, and Ariel; and many nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, January 24th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
