Maria M. Pinto, 87, of Swansea, wife of Ernesto R. Pinto, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Somerset Ridge Nursing Center. Born in Lisbon, Portugal, a daughter of the late Jose Francisco and the late Maria da Silva Martins, she emigrated to Fall River in 1970, and worked in the local textile industry. Upon retiring from Shelburne Shirt Co. in 1983, she and her husband moved back to Portugal, returning to Fall River in 2003.

Besides her husband, she is survived by: five children, Joe M. Pinto (wife Maria) of Fall River, Lucinda Oliveira (husband Jose) of Swansea, Fatima Oliveira (husband Herminio) of Fall River, Lucia Alves (husband Vitor) of Freetown, and Antone Pinto (wife Sandra) of Fall River; five siblings, Mario Martins, Jose Francisco and Fernando Francisco all of Florida, Joao Francisco of Fall River, and Lucinda Fernandes of Portugal; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren (with two more "on the way"); and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Manuel M. Pinto; and a sister of the late Adriano Francisco, Antonio Francisco, Laurinda Martins, Elisa Oliveira, and Diamantina Martins.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, June 1st, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
