Maria Placido, 86, of Fall River, widow of Manuel F. Cabral, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Porto Formoso, St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Antonio Placido and the late Maria Jose (Botelho) Placido, she emigrated to Fall River in 1981, and was a parishioner of the former Our Lady of Health Church. She enjoyed family gatherings, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving her are: eight children, Fatima Nogueira (husband Gil) of Fall River, Laudalina Teixeira (husband Humberto) of Fall River, Manuel Antonio Cabral (wife Mirelia) of Fairhaven, Maria Jose Martin (husband Scott) of Assonet, Ana Sousa (husband Tony) of Somerset, Rui Jorge Furtado (wife Connie) of Fairhaven, Catarina Arruda (husband Tony) of Somerset, and Natercia Furtado (fiancé Donald) of Fall River; six siblings, Manuel Placido and Rosaria Placido both of St. Michael, Azores, Artur Placido, Maria Jose Placido, Hortencia Placido and Mariano Placido all of Canada; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. She was also a sister of the late Natalia Placido and the late Antonio Placido.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, October 3rd, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Maria's memory to a charity of your choice.
