Maria R. Miranda, age 91, of Westport, widow of Dinis P. Miranda, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, after a lengthy illness. Born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Jose Rodrigues Raposo and the late Maria (Couto) Raposo, she emigrated to Fall River in February of 1967.

She worked in the local textile industry for many years, and was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union ("ACTWU"), now called UNITE. A devout Catholic and very active parishioner of Espirito Santo Church, she was also a member of its Holy Rosary Society. A great homemaker, Maria enjoyed being at home with her family, her greatest love, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by: five children, Rose Raposo (husband Bert) of Westport, Joseph (wife Zelia), Dinis H. & Leonel (wife Natalie) Miranda all of Deltona Florida, and Ana Maria Lima (husband Anselmo) of Westport; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. Her six siblings, Laurinda Farias, Antonio, Manuel, Jose, Henrique and Joao Raposo, all predeceased her.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, June 24th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
