Maria O. "Mary" Reis, 56, of Fall River, wife of John L. Reis, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at St. Anne's Hospital after a long illness. Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores she was the daughter of Eduarda (DaSilva) Souza and the late Raul Ferreira. She was an avid reader, enjoyed music and loved to dance. She was also a New England Patriots fan and enjoyed trips to Hyannis and Salem, MA. Maria also very much enjoyed being a Mother, a role she was very proud of. Eccentric, fashionable and beautiful, she had very unique taste and always presented herself well. Besides her mother and husband of thirty-nine years, she leaves her children, Melinda M. Reis, Joshua J. Reis, and Nathan M. Reis, all of Fall River; her sister, Ana I. Rebello and her husband, Carlos, of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. Her family extends their heartfelt thanks to all the staff on the St. James unit of St. Anne's Hospital for the wonderful care they provided for Maria during her final days. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, June 17th, in Espírito Santo Church. Her private cremation followed.
