Maria S. Medeiros, 88, of Fall River, wife of the late Eduardo R. Medeiros, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 5, 2020 after a brief illness.

Born in Ponta Garca, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Jaime Soares Da Silva and the late Ines (Furtado) Da Silva.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a trimmer in the local garment industry for many years. Maria was a woman of great style, always very well-dressed and was also a terrific homemaker who loved gardening, especially flowers, and taking care of her family. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she always remained faithful to her Catholic beliefs.

She leaves her children, James S. Medeiros and his wife, Odilia, of Berkley, and Edward S. Medeiros and Bertha Vasconcelos, both of Fall River; four grandchildren, James S. Medeiros, Philip Medeiros, Alexandra Medeiros, and Kelsey Vasconcelos; four great-grandchildren, Noah Irizarry, Grant Medeiros, Elena Medeiros, and Lincoln Medeiros; a sister, Natalia Moniz and her husband, Jose, of the Azores; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Eduarda M. Medeiros and sister of the late Alda Gouveia.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 9th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
