Maria
Santos
d. Apr 21, 2025
Maria Santos, 80, of Fall River, wife of the late Henrique Garcia, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, April 21, 2025 following a brief illness. Born in Lisbon, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Alfredo Lopes and the late Elvira Santos.
Prior to her retirement she worked as a sewing machine operator on the local textile industry for many years. She loved working, shopping, sewing, animals, music, and, most importantly, spending quality time with her children. She also enjoyed laughing, wearing her jewelry, and always keeping herself looking her very best….. a true "fashionista". As a devout Catholic, she faithfully attended Mass and prayed the rosary daily. Most notably, Maria was selfless and had a "heart of Gold" and was always willing and eager to help anyone in need.
She leaves her loving children, Ana Maria Santos and her fiancé, Rui Lima, of Portugal, Fernando Santos and his wife, Xana, of Portugal, Marie Garcia and her fiancé, Krystal DeFrias, John Garcia and his fiancé, Ana Lima, and Michelle Marcelino and her husband, Mark, all of Fall River, and Jose Augosto Garcia of Portugal; her grandchildren, Tyler Garcia, Lexy Garcia, Matthew Medeiros, Laura Santos, Ana Christina Narciso, Daniela Ferreira, Pedro Marques, Andre Mendes, Gustavo Santos, Adriana Brown, and Zachary Marcelino; and her great-grandchildren, Carter Garcia, Kingsley Garcia, Mariana Mendes, Gabriel Batista, Martim Silva, and Guilherme Silva.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, May 1st, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. If you were unable to do so, because of health concerns or any other reason, all are urged to express their sympathy online or by mail. To ensure that said condolences and/or sympathy cards reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website (www.silvafaria.com) and not through a third party. Thank you!
