Maria Santos, 87, of Fall River, wife of Manuel Santos, died Saturday 12/4/10 at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Serafim & Maria (Melo) Travassos, she resided in Fall River most of her life, and lived in Portugal for about 20 of her younger years. An employee at Louis Hand for 18 years until her retirement in 1984, she was a member of ILGWU (now UNITE). She was also a member of the former Our Lady of Health Parish. Besides her husband, of 65 years, she leaves: a daughter, Maria "Linda" Berenguer of Fall River; a granddaughter, Jodie Camara; 2 great grandchildren, Hayley & Nathan; several nieces and nephews. Sister of the late Serafim Pereira, Manuel, Arthur & Jordan Travassos, and Emily Costa. On Tuesday, December 7th, friends and family gathered for a funeral Mass in Espirito Santo Church before bringing Maria to her final resting place in Notre Dame Cemetery.
