Obituary

Maria M. Senra, 85, of Fall River, widow of Joao C. Senra, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Born in St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Jose Medeiros and the late Helena (Araujo) Medeiros, she emigrated to Fall River in 1969.

Prior to her retirement in 2000, she was employed in the local textile industry, at the former Quaker Fabric for 31 years. Longtime communicant of Espirito Santo Church and devout Catholic, Maria was a woman of great faith with a kind and generous spirit who would always do for others and help those in need. She enjoyed crocheting, vacationing, donuts & desserts, and sharing her famous homemade Portuguese biscoitos and massa sovada. Above all, Maria loved spending quality time with family and friends.

She is survived by: five children, Pedro M. Senra (wife Cheryl) of Lakeville, John Senra (wife Rhonda) of Dartmouth, Maria Carvalho of Fall River, Natalie Oliveira (husband Eddie) of Dartmouth, and Nancy Senra of Fall River; four siblings, Manuel DeMedeiros (wife Maria Rosario) of Dartmouth, Gabriel Medeiros (wife Maria Lia) of Fall River, Maria Lurdes Costa (husband Jose) of Fall River, and Miguel Medeiros (wife Maria) of St. Michael, Azores; seven grandchildren, Jonathan & Ken Carvalho, Hannah, Christian & Evan Senra, and Abigail & Maya Oliveira; three great grandchildren, Jonathan Jr., Peyton, and Avery; and several nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Jose Medeiros (wife Hirondina of Fall River), David Medeiros (wife Helena of New Bedford), and Juliette Oliveira.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, February 27th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Maria's memory to Southcoast VNA, 200 Mill Road, Suite 120, Fairhaven, MA 02719; 508-973-3200.
