Maria Ascencao
Vale
d. Mar 8, 2019
Fall River
Maria Ascencao (Camara) Vale, 84, of Fall River, widow of Jose M. Vale, was called home to God on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Sarah Brayton Nursing and Rehab Center after a long illness. Born in Sao Vicente Ferreira, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Silvino Pedro Camara and the late Maria dos Anjos Melo, she emigrated to Fall River in 1968.
She worked for many years as a candy basket designer at the former Schoolhouse Candy Factory until her retirement in 1996; and prior to that she was employed for some years at the former Bristol Knitting Mills. Besides being a great cook, with an outgoing personality, Ascencao was an especially great caregiver to her mother for many years. She loved to help people, as was a very giving person; and she would always enjoy visiting and caring for people whom she knew were house bound or in the hospital or nursing home.
She is survived by: three nieces, Clotilde Sousa of East Providence, Connie Duarte (husband Tony) of Fall River, and Cidalia "Sally" Domingues (husband Domingos) of East Providence; a godson, Zachary; two great nieces, Debbie and Tiffany; four great nephews, Junior, Jeffrey, Scott, and Brandon; three great, great nieces; and three great, great nephews. She was also the sister of the late Maria C. Amaral.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 11th, in Holy Trinity Parish Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
