Maria A. Vieira, 62, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 16, 2021. Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, the daughter of the late Antonio Tavares and the late Maria (Machado) Tavares, she emigrated in 1975 to Fall River where she resided most of her life.

A cafeteria worker in the Fall River school system for many years, prior to that she had been employed in the local garment industry, at the former Anderson-Little and the former Louis Hand.  She had also worked for a time at a local nursing home.

Survivors include her companion, Joe Medeiros of Fall River, her brother, Manuel Carreiro (wife Rosa) of Fall River, a niece (and her husband), a grandniece, and a grandnephew.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, January 21th, in Holy Name Church followed by her private committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Maria's memory to a charity of one's choice.
