Maria "Fenaes" Viveiros, 95, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on January 4, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose "Manica" Viveiros for 50+ years until his passing in 2009. Born in Remedios Bretanha, São Miguel, Açores, the daughter of the late Jose and Helena (Borges) Pacheco, she emigrated to the United States in June 1969.
Prior to her retirement, Maria worked at Shelburne Shirt for many years and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Following her retirement, she raised her many grandchildren, whom she treasured. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and cooking, especially cooking Sunday lunches for the entire family. Nothing brought her more joy than having her family together.
Maria was a devout Catholic and a long-time parishioner of Espirito Santo Church. She dedicated her life to her faith. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society.
She is survived by her loving children: Jose A Viveiros of Port Orange FL, Helena Viveiros (wife of the late Raimundo) of Fall River, Isabel Desrosiers (husband Raymond) of Fall River, Connie Viveiros (husband Duarte) of N. Dartmouth, Frank Viveiros (wife Lucy) of Swansea, Edward Viveiros (wife Martha) of Swansea, Louis Viveiros (wife Patricia) of N. Dartmouth, and David Viveiros (wife Jennifer) of Fall River. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Anthony Viveiros, Michael Viveiros, Steven Viveiros, Stacey Martins, Gary Desrosiers, Justin Desrosiers, Cory Desrosiers, Jocelyn Reis, Lexie Viveiros, Ryan Viveiros, Skyla Viveiros, Lucas Viveiros, Jake Viveiros, and Matthew Viveiros and great-grandchildren Kiara Viveiros, Emilia Viveiros, Lorenço Viveiros, Brea and Haven Martins, Austin and Lincoln Desrosiers, Dominick, Gabriel, and Charleston Desrosiers, and Gabriella and Grayson Reis. She was predeceased by two infant sons, both named Francisco. Maria was also predeceased by three brothers, Manuel, Joseph, and Isidore T. Pacheco.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, January 13th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
