Mariana T. Costa, 76, widow of Antonio R. Costa, of Fall River, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018, at the Fall River Jewish Home, after a long illness. Born in Arrifes, St Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Joseph Tavares and the late Maria C. (Teves) Tavares, she emigrated to Fall River in 1971.
Prior to her retirement some time ago, she worked in the local textile industry for many years. Her passion was her family, especially the grandchildren. She is survived by six children: Jose A. Costa of St. Michael Azores, Eulalia "Heidi" Oliveira of Fall River, Suzana M. Catoia of Fall River, Edwardo J. Costa of Lisbon Portugal, Nancy Costa of Fall River, and David S. Costa of Fall River; six sisters, Lurdes Vieira of Taunton, Gabriella Ventura of Taunton, Conceicao Silva of Canada, Fatima Sousa of Canada, Maria Teves of St Michael Azores, and Gloria Teves of St Michael Azores; fourteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. Also sister of the late Januario Teves and Arceno Teves.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, November 29th, in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St Patrick Cemetery.
