Mariana C. Oliveira, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at the Dighton Nursing Center in Dighton, MA. Formerly of Pitman Street in Fall River, she was the widow of the late Joao Oliveira. Born on the island of St. Michael in the Azores, she was a daughter of the late Francisco Cordeiro and the late Mariana (Da Luz) Cordeiro. After residing in the Azores for forty eight years she moved to Fall River in 1961 and was employed in the garment trade of Fall River at the former Shelburn Shirt Company. In 1970 she moved back to the Azores until her return to Fall River in 2000. Mariana was a communicant of Espirito Santo Church. Surviving family members include her children, Fernando Oliveira, John C. Oliveira, Maria Helena Arruda, Mariana Rebelo and Alda Guadencio, all of Fall River, a brother, Joao Cordeiro of St. Michael, Azores, a sister, Conceicao Cordeiro of Toronto, Canada, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was offered on Saturday (8/16) in Espirito Santo Church. Committal services followed at Notre Dame Cemetery.
