Mariana (Rebelo) Pavao, 85, of Westport, formerly of Fall River, widow of Francisco Pavao, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 at home after a long illness. She was born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Jose Rebelo and the late Maria Albernaz.
She emigrated to Fall River in 1973, where she lived most of her life, residing in Westport for the past two years. Employed in the local textile industry, she had worked as a trimmer at the former Shelburne Shirt Co. for 23 years, prior to her retirement in 1986, and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union ("ILGWU") now called UNITE.
She is survived by: four children, Maria Manuela Estacio (husband Francisco) of Westport, Luis Pavao (wife Donna) of Fall River, Margaret Nicolosi (husband Angelo) of Dartmouth, and Cindy Pavao of Westport; three sisters, Rosa Carvalho of St. Michael, Azores, Belmira Duarte of St. Michael, Azores, and Margarida Caetano of Canada; six grandchildren, Jason Estacio, Jonathan Pavao, Melissa Pavao, Jennifer Pavao, Angelo Nicolosi Jr, and Lexi-Bella Nicolosi; 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. She was also the mother of the late Francisco A. Pavao; and a sister of the late Jose Rebelo and the late Maria Rodrigues.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, December 30th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
