Marina Moniz, 82, of Somerset, wife of Ronald J. Moniz, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Crestwood Nursing Home following a long illness. Born in Pico Vermelho Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Sousa Pavao and the late Gilda (Cabral) Pavao.
Prior to her retirement as a Bakery Clerk at Stop and Shop, she was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and a Librarian at Somerset Public Libray . She loved traveling, especially to Hawaii, going on cruises, and dancing. Marina was also a big fan of Elvis Presley. Most importantly, Marina loved her family dearly and relished the quality time she spent with all of them, especially her grandchildren.
Besides her devoted husband, she leaves her loving children: Ronald J. Moniz, Jr and his fiancé Alicia, of Somerset, Stephanie Abdallah of Somerset, Melissa Medeiros and her husband Tony, of North Dartmouth; her five grandchildren: Morgan and her husband Cameron, Camron, Erin, Tyler and Alex; five siblings: Cidalia Lopes of Fall River, Gilberta Marques of Fall River, Aurelio Pavao of Fall River, Alda Melo of Westport, and Olimpio Pavao of Tiverton, RI; and many nieces and nephews. Marina was predeceased by her brothers Laurenio Pavao and Manuel Pavao.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, December 10th, at St. John of God Church in Somerset followed byher committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.
