Fall River

Obituary

Marjorie R. Medeiros, 97, widow of Louis R. Medeiros, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Southpointe Rehab, Fall River. Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Gideon Rogers and the late Emma (Desmarais) Rogers, she moved to Fall River in 1942 where she lived most her life. She also resided in Bridgewater for 13 years.

A devoted housewife and homemaker, she had also worked in the local textile industry for a number of years. A loving grandmother with a youthful personality, Marjorie loved children, enjoyed soap operas, and took great pleasure in the simple joys of life.

Her survivors include: a son, Richard Medeiros of France (and his former wife, Francine); her longtime caregiver (who was like a daughter), Patricia Litif (husband Kevin) of Bridgewater; two granddaughters, Antonia Medeiros Wenham (husband Dean) of Montreal, Canada, and Emilie Medeiros (husband Gurmeet Singh Sian) of London, U.K.; four great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and grandnieces/nephews. She was also the sister of the late Clara Labrode, Rose Bonneau, and Frank Rogers.

Due to the COVID pandemic, a private funeral was held on Wednesday, May 27th, from our Fall river Chapel followed by her private committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.

When the current crisis has abated enough for large gatherings to again take place, Marjorie's family is planning to arrange for the offering of a Memorial Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church, to which extended family, friends and the public will be invited – and details will be announced here.

Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. Being unable to do so, because of this pandemic, all are urged to express sympathy online or by mail.

To ensure that said condolences reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
