Mark J. Soares, age 57, of Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at the Tobey Hospital in Wareham, MA. He was the husband of the late Jean M. (Shea) Soares. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Hilbert "Boh" Soares and the late Alice (Santarpia) Soares. Although raised in Swansea, MA, he has resided in Fall River for most his life and also lived in Westport for seven years. Employed as an engineer at the West Wareham Facility of Covanta Energy since 2006, he was a former boiler operator at Duro Finishing in Fall River for eighteen years. Mark was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church in Westport. Surviving family members include his children, Jonathan H. Soares and Marissa A. Soares, both of Fall River, a brother, Bruce M. Soares and his wife Celeste M. Soares of Canton, Ohio, and two nieces, Jennifer L. Soares and husband Michael D. Krantz of Chicago, IL, and Rebecca D. Soares of Canton, OH. His funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Grace Church, Sanford Road, Westport. Cremation was private. In Mark's memory, donations may be sent to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
