Mark E. Swist, 47, of Westport, passed away Saturday, December 26, unexpectedly. Born Hollywood, FL, son of Michael and Patricia (Mendonca) Purcell. A graduate of Westport High School, Class of 1980, Mark was a pipefitter working out of Union Local #51 in East Providence. He was a member of the Bowling Green Fishing Club and the dart league at Over Time Sports Pub in Westport. He was father of John C. and Jake P. Swist; grandson of Mildred Mendonca; brother of Jody Swist, Shelly Robbins, Lori Pacheco, Cindy DeMello, Miki, Martin and Guy Purcell. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Family and friends gathered at the funeral home on Monday, January 4, before departing for a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua. After the Mass, pallbearers William DeMello, George Smith, Ken Kaliff, Michael Swist, James DeMello, and Carl Pereira brought Mark to his final resting place in St. Patrick Cemetery.
