Mary Barboza, 88, of Fall River, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 18 ^th 2018 at the Highlander Nursing Home. Born in East Providence, Rhode Island, a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Texeira) Barboza, formerly of Plain St, she resided in Fall River most of her life.

She was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, where she loved playing the violin. With her great affinity for education, she went on to earn degrees from BCC and UMass Dartmouth. For many years she volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club.

Mary is survived by: four children, Roseanne Boyer (husband James Boyer), Veronica Barboza & Melanie Barboza all of Fall River, and Anthony Barboza of Pawtucket, R.I.; former daughter-in-law, Rhonda Barboza; godson, Glenn Barboza; 10 grandchildren, Coury Garside, Dawn Curtis, Jason Boudria, Jarad Martinez, Jade Raposa, Lindsey Medeiros, Anthony Barboza Jr, Shawn Barboza, Ronnie Barboza, and Tonianne Barboza; four sisters, Margaret Barboza, Rose M ary Raegan, Isabelle "Penny" Barboza, and Anna McDermott; four brothers, Manuel Barboza Jr, Victor Barboza, John Barboza, and Joe Barboza; and many nieces & nephews.

She was also the mother of Mary Garside, grandmother of the late Joshua Barboza, and sister of the late Marianne Dias (husband – the late Sonny Dias), Otillia "Tillie' Hill, Caroline Barboza, Tina Barboza, Frank Barboza, Georgie Barboza, and Peggy Richardson.

Following her cremation, her Memorial Mass was celebrated on Saturday, October 6th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Her ashes were buried in her family lot at Notre Dame Cemetery.
