Mary L. Bertrand, 83, of Somerset, wife of the late Joseph Bertrand, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Sarah Brayton Nursing Home following a long illness. Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Tobias Mauricio and the late Irene (Silva) Mauricio.

Prior to her retirement she worked in the local textile industry for many years. A very talented seamstress, she also loved painting, singing, refinishing furniture, going on cruises, and traveling to such places as Europe and annually to Florida. She was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher at the Calvary Temple, Song Leader, and a member of the Woman's Ministry. Most notably, Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and enjoyed spending quality time with all of them.

She leaves her loving children, Lisa Viana of Somerset, Marc Bertrand and his wife, Moira, of Florida, and Nicole Hutchings of Arizona; her four grandchildren, Amanda Viana and her husband, Paul Miles, Adam Viana and his wife, Heather, William Bertrand, and Parker Hutchings; one great-grandchild, Elliott Viana; her sister, Eduarda Solomito (late husband, Thomas) of Somerset; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Joseph Mauricio.

Her Funeral Service was held on Saturday, December 9th, at the conclusion of a visitation period in our Somerset Chapel followed by her committal at Nathan Slade Cemetery also in Somerset. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Mary's memory to: Southcoast Hospice, 200 Mill Road, suite 190, Fairhaven, MA 02719
