Mary T. (Cabral) Gomes,of 721 Oak Grove Ave. passed on in her 96th year on Thursday at home surrounded by her family. Widow of Emery M. Gomes. Born in Fall River and a life long resident, daughter of the late Manuel T. and Rose (Medeiros) Cabral. Prior to her marriage, she worked in the leather industry as a sample maker of high quality pocketbooks. An excellent cook, she also enjoyed sewing, knitting, the company of friends and family and helping those in need. She was a long time member of the Council of Catholic Women and the Holy Rosary Sodality of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Beloved mother of Stephen T. and Andrew P. Gomes, both of whom cared for her and resided with her until her passing, and Emery M. Gomes, Jr. his wife, Phyllis & grandson, Emery M. Gomes, III. She also leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Brian Albino, Fr. George Almeida and Fr. Manuel Garcia on Tuesday, December 7, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her Committal Service St Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River.
