Obituary

Mary C. D'Ambrosio, 91, of Fall River, widow of Retired Army Major Anthony S. D'Ambrosio, died Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at St Luke's Hospital, New Bedford. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late John & Mary (Fitzgerald) Orpen, she was a lifelong resident of Fall River.

A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMass Dartmouth), with a bachelor's degree in Psychology, she worked as a secretary in the Fall River School Department for many years. She was an active parishioner of Holy Name Church, and a member of the Fall River Public Library, as well as the Coalition for Social Justice. For years, Mary also enjoyed volunteering her time preparing taxes for low-income filers.
She is survived by 3 children, A. John D'Ambrosio (wife Madeline) of Somerset, Paul D'Ambrosio (wife Marie) of Brazil, and Pauline Campbell (husband William) of Jacksonville, FL; 5 grandchildren, John, Thomas, William, Mark and Kristen; 13 great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews. She was also the mother of the late Jeffrey E. D'Ambrosio; the sister of the late Helen Tierney, and sister-in-law of the
late Robert Tierney, Ernest & Christine D'Ambrosio and Albert & Whilamena D'Ambrosio.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, February 21st  in Holy Name Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
